Our IECEx CoPC Certification Process

Step 1
Enrolment and Application

1. Submit Enrolment Form

The student begins by completing and submitting the IECEx Certification Enrollment Form. This form requires personal details, employment information, relevant qualifications, and work experience.

2. Provide Supporting Documents

The student begins by completing and submitting the IECEx Certification Enrolment Form. Download it here. This form requires personal details, employment information, relevant qualifications, and work experience.

3. Payment of Fees

The student is required to pay the applicable fees for the certification process, as specified by HAZLOC International Institute of Training Pty Ltd.

Step 2
Review and Validation

1. Document Review:

HAZLOC International Institute of Training reviews the submitted documents to ensure they meet the prerequisites for the IECEx CoPC scheme. This includes validating technical education, reviewing training specific to explosive atmospheres, and relevant work experience.

2. Employer/Client Validation

Work experience may be further validated by contacting the student’s employers or clients. The certification body assesses the validation provided to ensure it meets the standards required for certification.

Step 4
Knowledge and Practical Assessments

1. Knowledge Test:

The student undergoes a knowledge test supervised by an examiner or invigilator. The test assesses the student’s understanding of the principles and practices related to explosive atmospheres.

2. Practical Examination:

The student participates in a practical examination supervised by a qualified examiner. This examination tests the student’s ability to apply knowledge in real-world scenarios, including tasks such as equipment installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair.

The IECEx CoPC Knowledge and Practical Examination are conducted by an invigilator & or examiner. IECEx Certification assessments do not allow the trainer and assessor to be the same person. During the IECEx CoPC Knowledge and Practical Examination, the examinee cannot talk to others, and their work must be their own. The exams have set time limits and a 75% pass mark.

Step 5
Assessment and Certification Decision

1. Examination Review:

The results of the knowledge and practical examinations are reviewed by HAZLOC International Institute of Training to determine if the student has met the required competencies for certification.

2. Certification Decision:

Based on the examination results, the certification body makes a decision regarding the issuance of the IECEx CoPC. If the student has demonstrated the required competencies, they will be awarded the IECEx CoPC.

Step 6
Issuance of Certificate

1. Issuance of IECEx CoPC

Upon successful completion of the examination process, the student is issued the IECEx Certificate of Personnel Competence. This certificate confirms the student’s competence in the specified IECEx units.

2. Public Listing

The certification status, including the scope of certification, is made publicly available as per IECEx and HAZLOC International Institute of Training’s public information policies.

Step 7
Ongoing Compliance, Renweal and Recertification

1. Ongoing Compliance and Maintenance

The certified individual must inform HAZLOC International Institute of Training of any changes that could affect their ability to maintain the certification, such as changes in employment or health status.

2. Recertification and Renewal

The certification is valid for a specified period, after which the individual must undergo a recertification process to maintain their IECEx CoPC. This involves submitting updated documentation and potentially undergoing partial or full reexamination.

Ending Certification
Withdrawing, Suspension, and Cancelation

1. Withdrawing, Suspension, and Cancellation

The IECEx Certificate of Personnel Competence (CoPC) may be suspended, withdrawn, or cancelled if the certified individual no longer meets the conditions of certification.
This may include circumstances such as non-compliance with certification requirements, failure to maintain ongoing competence, or conduct that breaches ethical or safety obligations.

A certified individual may also voluntarily withdraw their certification at any time by submitting a written request to HAZLOC International Institute of Training. Upon voluntary withdrawal, the certificate will be marked as inactive and removed from the IECEx online certificate database.

All decisions relating to suspension, withdrawal, or cancellation are made in accordance with the relevant IECEx Operational Documents (ODs) published on the official IECEx website at www.iecex.com.

2. Reinstatement of Certification

A suspended certificate may be reinstated once the conditions leading to the suspension have been satisfactorily resolved and verified by the Certification Body.
Reinstatement is conducted in accordance with the applicable IECEx Operational Documents and may require the submission of evidence, reassessment, or formal review to confirm continued competence.
